Course Description
This course will introduce participants to the art of reading of Piping & Instrumentation Diagram (P&ID) typically used in the chemical and process industries by engineers and technologists in the design and construction phase, and by operations and maintenance staff once facilities are up and running.
We will discuss various functions of P&IDs and the kinds of information they convey. The stages of this important drawing during project design phase will be studied along with its general layout, content, symbols, tagging, and simplified explanation of each items. Line types, piping connections and other various sundry items peripheral to the main theme. Nitty-gritty aspects of instrumentation and control symbology will also be discussed along with dissection of tag abbreviations.
At the end of this course, you will be able to:
- Understand how the facilities relate to the drawings
- Speak the same language as the Operators and Engineers of the facilities
- Participate in design reviews, HAZOP and other studies
- Propose changes or modifications to improve the system
Who Should Attend
This course is suitable for anyone interested in how P & ID drawings should be read, understood, interpreted and maintained. This course is suitable for individuals dealing with P & ID’s in all process industries.
