Course Description
We understand the critical need for such a course considering we are in a global “energy transition” and while there are several options to learn about CCUS, geothermal, and solar, there is very little training out there for today’s coal geologist/engineer.
Lessons learned from coal-bearing successions will be shared with participants such that they can employ best practices in their own data interpretation workflows.
If you are dealing with complex structural deformation in your coal mine, then we can add an additional 3-hour module on detection of faults using well-logs and techniques you can use to overcome correlation and mining challenges.
This is a crash course on coal geology. The course runs for 2 days, 3 hours each day, live on Zoom.
This online course is offered in partnership with Applied Stratigraphix, a US-based consulting and training firm specializing in Structural Geology, Sequence Stratigraphy, Seismic Stratigraphy and Sedimentology services for the oil and gas and mining industry.

Who Should Attend
This course is suitable for all who wish to develop a better understanding of the factors that control the distribution and quality of coal seams.
This course is also applicable to:
- Geologists
- Geophysicists
- Mining Engineers
- Managers
