Course Description
This half-day course will provide leaders with tools and techniques for holding “difficult” conversations with employees regarding their performance and career development, and specifically in the context of day-to-day performance and the employee’s career goals.

Group and individual learning activities will encourage reflection and will challenge leaders to make a mind shift in communicating with employees.

Guidelines will be provided for planning difficult conversations along with opportunity to observe the demonstration of a difficult conversation, and then opportunity to practice and assess conversations during the session.

Learning Objectives:
At the completion of this workshop, participants will be able to:

1. Describe the guiding principles for having difficult conversations in the workplace.

2. Describe what difficult conversations look like and discuss challenges or barriers that exist for a leader.

3. Explain the guidelines for having a difficult conversation with an employee.

4. Plan and apply the steps of conducting a difficult conversation.
