Course Description
Over 2-half day sessions this course will provide participants with tools to identify, prioritize, and remedy wasted energy primarily in gas processing facilities, with an emphasis on inefficient and under utilized compressors, engines, refrigerant plants, cooling systems, turbines, amine and steam plants. The session will benefit field operations personnel with the ongoing optimization of existing systems, and will assist project engineers and technologists with cost-benefit analyses relating to capital and operating costs for capital budgets along with the selection of electric versus gas driven equipment.

An MS Excel-based computer simulation of the equipment will be included as part of this course. Group studies will include the optimization of key equipment using supplied program. Please ensure that you are able to run MS Excel to participate in this section of the course.

Nev Hircock, P. Eng. (Ret).
Nev Hircock is a Mechanical Engineering graduate of Cambridge UK and has over 40 years Oil and Gas experience since coming to Calgary. Nev has worked some 17 years with Dome and Amoco in both Project and Process Engineering capacities and since 1994 has been an independent Engineering Consultant specializing in Process and Environmental Engineering. He has been particularly involved in the efficient operation of Gas Processing Plants and associated rotating machinery such as compressors and aerial coolers. Nev has been giving seminars on many aspects of Gas Plant design and optimization for the past 30 years and has had numerous papers published with the Gas Processors Association in Western Canada and the Laurence Reid Gas Conditioning Conference of the USA.
