Hong Lu has a Ph.D. in Materials Science from University of Science and Technology Beijing, and P.Eng from APEGGA. With over 15 years experience in pipeline integrity engineering and management, materials and corrosion engineering, and risk management, Hong has assisted many upstream pipeline companies on pipeline integrity management, risk assessment, engineering assessment, resumption assessment, audit support, corrosion management strategy, etc.

The technology that Hong has developed to prevent pipeline cracking is widely used in the pipeline industry through the Pipeline Research Council International (PRCI), Canadian Energy Pipeline Association (CEPA) and major pipeline operators. In addition, Hong has recently developed a pipeline integrity and risk management system, which is one of the most cost effective methods for upstream pipeline operators to optimize their pipeline operation and maintenance strategy. The system was published in IPC 2010.

Hong has served many major global oil and gas companies in North and South America, and Europe. He published numerous papers in corrosion conferences, journals, and pipeline conferences.
