Course Description
Sometimes what helps a well-studied old play the most is a fresh unbiased look. Tide-influenced sandstones form prolific reservoirs in basins across the globe. Due to industry interest outcrops of such sandstones have been studied thoroughly.

This 1-day course covers the environments of deposition, lithofacies and distribution of tide-influenced sandstones through examples from basins across the globe. Participants will soon learn ‘what works’ and what doesn’t when exploring and developing such reservoirs. During the afternoon we will apply lessons learned from global basins to the Alberta Oil Sands. Participants are urged to bring in their own core photos, borehole image logs and paper copies of seismic data. Data will not be shared with other participants and will only be reviewed by the instructor.

A complete set of course materials and lunch is included in this course.

Who Should Attend
