Course Description
This 2-Day workshop will illustrate the application of cement logs for cement evaluation, which is essential to successful completions and meeting ERCB requirements. Actual log examples including SAGD and horizontal wells are utilized to illustrate different type of logs and allow a comparison for log quality and evaluation of interpretation techniques. There will be exercises of making squeeze or no squeeze decisions and discussion of influences from drilling and mud removal techniques. Included are practical guide lines for successfully evaluating cement integrity and isolation.


A complete set of course materials and a light lunch are included.
Who Should Attend
This course will apply to those professionals involved in cementing, completions and work-over. Those solving problems particularly related to SAGD and ERCB approval. Those evaluating foam or light weight cements, which have posed unique problems and detailed techniques for those circumstances. Those involved in horizontal well completions today where isolation between frac stages is required and sometimes difficult to achieve.

Gary Batcheller
Gary Batcheller has over 30 years experience in field operations and training in the principles and applications of logs used in the Petroleum Industry. He has developed and presented log training courses world wide to over 1,500 students. His classes utilize an Interpretation at a Glance Technique developed by Gary through his many years of experience.

He received a BSc. degree in Physics from Texas Technological University, and is a member of SPE, API and SPWLA.
